Commenting on reports that the Liberal Democrats' first party
conference since entering coalition with the Conservatives began with
a plea for unity, SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson MP said:
“If the Liberal Democrats are pointing the finger at each other and
falling out now – after just a few months of coalition with the Tories
– the party will be in even more trouble by the time of the Holyrood
elections next year.
“No wonder many principled LibDems are now turning to the SNP.
“By next May, the coalition’s savage cuts, and the increase in VAT,
will really be hitting home. Voters in Scotland rejected the Tories at
the last election, and the Liberal Democrats’ decision to put David
Cameron into Downing Street will haunt them on the Holyrood hustings.”
