LABOUR IGNORE PUBLIC OPINION WITH ANOTHER POLICY BLUNDER
SNP NOW THE ONLY PARTY OF THE SCOTTISH NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE
Commenting on tonight's BBC Scotland televised debate on cuts where
Iain Gray failed to say that Labour would ensure Scottish health
spending kept pace with Barnett increases SNP MSP, Dr Ian McKee – a
member of the Scottish Parliament’s Health Committee – said:
"This is an incredible blunder by Iain Gray on the same day a poll
shows people in Scotland put protecting health spending as their
number one priority.
"And with Iain Gray saying he wants to increase council tax, the
second least popular option, Gray has the reverse midas touch when it
comes to choosing policies for Labour.
"Iain Gray has let the Labour cat out of the bag – Labour will cut
Scotland’s health budget.
“The SNP has guaranteed that we will give any increase in funding from
health budgets in England to health budgets in Scotland. Now only the
SNP is the party of Scotland’s NHS. Labour has betrayed it despite
promising in their 2010 manifesto that they would ‘guarantee’ extra
money for the NHS.
"The health service faces serious challenges ahead but the SNP is
determined to minimise the impact of spending cuts on health by
passing any increase in health spending in England on to the health
service in Scotland.
“Labour's position is that they are planning cuts to Scotland's health
service to pay for Labour's UK debts."
