Responding to a BBC survey which showed Scots voters understand Westminster is behind the delivery of cuts to Scottish services with 42% holding the Labour Government accountable, 39% blaming the new Tory and Lib Dem government and only 13% looking to the SNP MSP Joe FitzPatrick said:
“It is not just a fact that Labour is responsible for two thirds of the cuts coming Scotland’s way, they would rather let the Tories keep cutting than support Scotland having the economic and financial responsibility to make our own way out of Labour’s mess.
“Scots understand the root cause of these cuts, the debts that were built up under Labour and the challenges our economy faces to recover from recession but we also know that these cuts are going too far, too fast putting our economic recovery in danger.
“That’s why it is time for Scotland to come together to argue for an alternative to the Labour, Tory, Lib Dem cuts agenda with the powers to grow our own economy and protect our public services.
"The SNP is the only party with an alternative to the dismal decade of cuts coming from London, putting people’s priorities first and continuing to put forward the case for the economic and financial responsibilities of independence that will allow us to grow our economy so we can support public services, jobs and families in the face of Westminster cuts, not be forced to put our recovery at risk.”
